D.A.Y helps men (ages 18+) regardless of how long they have been sober. Those not yet sober, or who are within 48 hours of consuming a mind-altering substance, undergo additional screening to determine the best next steps. Some substances require a proper medical detox environment, so anyone coming to D.A.Y after recently consuming one of these substances is recommended to get treatment first. D.A.Y contacts local treatment centers for them and arranges transport. Transport also is provided to return the person to D.A.Y immediately upon discharge, which occurs after all medical and psychiatric evaluations are completed. Individuals coming to D.A.Y sober, committing to maintaining a safe and clean environment, and working through a 12-Step program, are screened, registered, and assigned a bed.
